What is the role of the therapist?

The role of the therapist in this particular type of therapy is to focus on the emotional process post-separation, and the transition parents make from ending a relationship to developing a co-parenting relationship for the best interests of the children. The therapist is similar to a sports coach, calling a time out from the intensity of everyday life and taking time to settle, think, plan and then return to life with new focused areas to work at.
